IGES made active contributions to major international conferences and their preparatory processes such as the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development (WSSD), COP and the UN International Year of Fresh Water (2003). Aiming to reflect the situation in Asian countries to the international policy making processes, IGES presented its research results on the basis of international agreements such as the Marrakesh Accords (2001) adopted at COP7, and the Johannesburg Declaration and the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation (2002).
