This special webpage presents publications related to the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), which as the main United Nations platform on sustainable development, is dedicated to the follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD) is an annual meeting convened by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), and aims to strengthen the region’s readiness for the United Nations’ High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF). The website gathers a number of researchers’ expert briefings, as well as links to IGES-related events at the Forum.
This page assembles information on the annual Conference of the Parties (COP) of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and its Subsidiary Bodies (SB). It will introduce recommendations, commentary, and articles from IGES, as well as updates on negotiations and side events, and translation of and observations about important reports and resolutions. The UN Environment Assembly (UNEA) was held in Nairobi from 11-15 March 2019, and focused on the theme of “Innovative Solutions for Environmental Challenges and Sustainable Consumption and Production”. The participation by attendees from 179 countries led to agreement on a Ministerial Declaration, as well as 23 resolutions and three further decisions. These addressed a wide range of issue areas, from sustainable mobility to managing chemicals, and single use plastics to deforestation. This page provides IGES commentary and insights about the most recent UNEA, as well as links to relevant publications.
This special feature page provides information on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). IGES provides technical support for the IPCC's Inventory Task Force, and several of its researchers are involved in writing the special reports. This page introduces a translation of the report summaries, related materials, commentary articles, and interviews with the authors. This is produced and supported by IGES, based on the knowledge obtained through its past and ongoing experience with the IPCC. (Japanese only)
