Technical Report "1.5-Degree Lifestyles: Targets and Options for Reducing Lifestyle Carbon Footprints"
IGES, Aalto University, and D-mat launched the technical report "1.5-Degree Lifestyles: Targets and Options for Reducing Lifestyle Carbon Footprints" supported by Sitra and the KR Foundation. This report analyses the carbon footprints of household lifestyles and how changes can contribute to meeting the ambitious 1.5-degree aspirational target envisaged by the Paris Agreement on climate change.

IGES signs Academic Partnership Agreement with PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (PT SMI) Indonesia
IGES and PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (PT SMI), an infrastructure financing company established as a State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) with 100% of shares owned by the Government of Indonesia (GOI), signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Academic Partnership to work together on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

mipplot: Open-Source (R-based) Tool for Visualizing the Mitigation Scenarios from IAMs
IGES and the Policy Alternatives Research Institute (PARI) of The University of Tokyo developed the mipplot visualization tool (beta version), which allows users to create graphs from climate mitigation scenarios generated by energy-economic models and integrated assessment models.

IPBES Technical Support Unit for the Assessment of Invasive Alien Species Established at IGES
The Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES) technical support unit (TSU) for the thematic assessment of invasive alien species and their control was established at the IGES Tokyo Sustainability Forum with the support of the Ministry of the Environment of Japan.

Activity Report "Dissemination of Regional Waste Management Strategy and Action Plan for Zones 6 & 7, and Launching of Pilot Project"
The Maldives face a growing challenge in managing solid waste and the associated environmental, economic and social issues. Considering these issues, the Ministry of Environment (ME) in the Maldives officially launched its Regional Waste Management Strategy and Action Plan for Zones 6 & 7 that was prepared with the technical assistance of the IGES Centre Collaborating with UNEP on Environmental Technologies (CCET), in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) - International Environmental Technology Centre (IETC) and with financial support from the Ministry of the Environment, Japan (MOEJ), as well as the participation of all 18 island councils, as well as civil society organisations and other stakeholders.
