Launch of SDG City Reports on Shimokawa, Toyama and Kitakyushu

On the sidelines of the 2018 UN High-level Political Forum held in New York, IGES launched three reports documenting efforts by local authorities in Japan working to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The local authorities featured in the reports were Shimokawa Town (Hokkaido), Toyama City (Toyama Prefecture) and Kitakyushu City (Fukuoka Prefecture).

Launch of the IGES SDG Interlinkages Analysis & Visualisation Tool (V2.0)

An updated and upgraded version of the IGES SDG Interlinkages Analysis & Visualisation Tool (V2.0) is now available online for free for anybody with access to the internet. This is a practical and science-based tool that can support national policymaking, shifting from a silo-based approach to an integrated approach in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This report aims to determine whether and to what extent three different dimensions of governance—horizontal coordination, vertical coordination, and multistakeholder engagement—affected narrowly drawn efforts to mitigate climate change and achieve other development objectives. The study presents case studies focusing on the governance arrangements supporting co-benefits, sustainable transport, integrated solid waste management, and the water-energy-food nexus in the Asia-Pacific region.
