Commemorative Symposium on "Theories and Practices to Achieve the Goal of Holding Global Warming below 2 Degrees"
(20 October 2017, Tokyo, Japan)
This commemorative symposium will be held by IGES, jointly with the National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES) and the Ministry of the Environment, Japan, featuring a keynote speech by Professor Dr. Hans J Schellnhuber (Founder and Director, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research), global forerunner of climate change forecasting. This symposium will provide information on the current and future status of climate change, referring to German experience, and discuss ways to achieve decarbonised society including issues of renewable energy, as well as opportunities and challenges for Japan.

Public Seminar on "Carbon Markets and the Paris Agreement"

IGES, jointly with the Ministry of the Environment, Japan and the World Bank, will organise a public seminar "Carbon Markets and the Paris Agreement" on 27 October, 2017 in Tokyo, Japan. The seminar will discuss the status and future prospects of international negotiations on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, a provision on market mechanisms.
