PAST EVENT |
"High Level Talks on Zero Carbon City Kuala Lumpur"
Tokyo Metropolitan Government (TMG) and Kuala Lumpur Municipality (KL City) launched a city-to-city collaboration project in 2019. The project has provided support for surveying KL's public buildings to assess their energy consumption and estimate how they could reduce their emissions. The project also assisted in formulating guidelines for selecting public buildings that should be prioritised for energy-saving renovations. In addition, the project was joined this year by Saitama City, which has been newly selected as a leading decarbonisation area. This hybrid event, held on 8 August, was live streamed from the venue at Kuala Lumpur City Hall, attracting approximately 200 participants in total. TMG introduced its 2050 "Zero Emission Tokyo Strategy" and "Fast forward to 'Carbon Half'" initiatives, and Saitama City set out how to promote societal transition and decarbonisation through "Smart Home Communities," presenting a case study of urban development pioneered in the Misono District.
